Hi I've decided to begin the c25k as i really need to lose weight and get more active and hoping I can complete this!
One of my questions is what trainers have you all got and where did you get them? I think I need to invest in a new pair as i only have a cheap pair which I bought from a supermarket ages ago.

I think anything Nike is always a good option But best to go into a sports shop and ask someone or try a few pairs on, its all to do with the arch of your feet and your pressure zones so its probably best to get some expert advice.
The price isn't that important but make sure they are 'proper' running shoes in as much as they are designed for running and will give you the support you need. Bog standard fashion trainers aren't designed for that. Sports Direct or even Aldi and Lidl do inexpensive decent running shoes and if you can find somewhere that does gait analysis, even better. If not, Sports Direct have a contraption that you stand on that tells you what type of shoe will suit you best. Just make sure they are really comfy and have plenty of room for your toes.
If you have a Nike outlet store, you can get some bargains there - I bought my first pair there for £17.50, down from over £60.
Oh, and welcome & well done for making a great decision, and good luck! Keep posting here for help, support and encouragement.
Well done for starting. I'm also mummy to 2 boys and needed to lose weight and get fit. This is the only thing I can fit into my schedule and it works. Just follow the podcasts and do what they say. If struggling, slow down. And you've found this forum so you'll get any help you need. Trainers each to their own and try and find a good sports shop. The other essential is a good bra! Apart from that, off you go and have fun. Good luck.
I started with Adidas from an outlet store, £18. Tried them on, had a wee trot in the store, they felt OK and actually have been fab' If you know you have any peculiarities to your feet/ankles/knees/gait or if you try pairs and still aren't sure then a local running shop will advise.
Sports bra is a must no matter what. Tmi- I'm not generously boobed but it's a LOT comfier in a sports one! Got mine out of supermarkets (Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco etc do them as well as M&S etc).
If you want to complete the programme then you will
Take each one slow and steady, if a run proves too much and you've slowed down and still can't manage then just repeat until you can. Take at least one rest day between runs- 2 or 3 days if things become difficult. The guideline is 3 runs a week over 9 weeks but it takes what it takes
Thanks for the replies. I will go and take a visit to sports direct I think and see what they say.
Another question is when I have done any exercise like this before I always get a real sharp pain in my shins, could this be down to not having the correct footwear? It is very painful and does put me off slightly knowing I may suffer again
Hello and welcome. I too have started the C25K for the same reasons and was loving it until my knee has started to give me a bit of unexpected trouble. (w2r3)
I also use to get shin splints but have found so far that I've not suffered at all. I think it has a lot to do with how the training has been set up to do it all gradually so that the body can keep up. One thing I would say is get some properly fitted trainers and do them up correctly as I suffered a delightful blister on my very first run!
