Hello Folks,
After a self imposed IC break, and what seemed like an eternity (more like just over a week) I managed to get out there and do what I like doing! Kebab & Chips...😈.??!! Not quite, running!! 😊😊
As some of you may already know I started having elongated calf muscle pain on the right leg only which lasted for a couple or more days and had decided on a IC prescription. In the mean time I went and had another gait analysis done just in case. The analysis remained the same (neautral runner) and after having a chat with the sales assistant we came to the conclusion that my current trainers do not have enough cushion for the longer distances. This is not what the Adidas sales assistant had told me 😠😤
He did kindly show me a few alternatives, one of the pairs were the Asics GT1000, a shoe for overpronators??! Declined them all politely and came home. Out came my £2.99 Lidl Gel Insoles thought I would try these before another shoe purchase.
So back to the run.. I decided to use the same route I have been using for the past 2 runs in order to evaluate the insoles properly. So with a 8km run they were certainly put through their paces and I have to admit they worked wonders. There was so much less pounding felt on the heel than before and although they added some weight to the shoe it wasn't that noticeable whilst running.
The run was nice and pleasent, seeing the sunset while you are running certainly beats the streetlights and headlights, rain, of the winter months. Is it me or are the roads/pavements less congested these days? Maybe due to the Easter break who knows.
It's now the morning after and my legs feel fine. Apart from the normal stiffness, there is no major pain and "both" legs have no calf muscle pains. Now wether this is down to the imposed IC or the insoles I can't really say. If it is due to the insoles, then I just wish I had purchased something like these before and more of them!
For a quick heads up the Aldi running event begins next Thursday 14th. Don't forget the offer online shopping now and as a promotional offer delivery is free.
Thanks for stopping by.
