Running clothes

I actually visited Sports Direct yesterday to buy partner his birthday present as he has also started CT5K. I also got an outfit for me.

The assistant advised all full length running bottoms are close fitting. Is that correct?

I came away with karimoor leggings and long sleeve tops. A karimoor run jacket for me and a cycling jacket for him as there were no medium run jackets.

These things don't look very warm to wear for the warm up and warm down walks. I usually have a fleece over a T shirt. Also what's the difference between wearing a cycling jacket or running one? Assistant seemed to think it would be fine. She suggested it!

I'm on W9 R2 today and he is W5. I'm rather amazed to be at W9 and even more amazed at shuffling for 30 minutes non stop. Sadly I dont enjoy the running but i do enjoy the achievement and the benefits.

Lucky partner...running leggings need to be snug...no flappage:) What have you been wearing? Capris?

A lightweight jacket, simply needs to be just that, lightweight shower proof wind proof and breathable... otherwise you end up as wet inside as out:) And,if you are in the UK.. a winter running hat is essential :)

He has been running in casual trousers, like jeans and T shirt and rugby top. So far he hasn't removed the rugby top during running. I'm sure he must be very hot. I've been wearing riding jodphurs. Warm and comfy.

Never heard of a running hat. Are they special to other hat's? I wear head band when dog walking. Also Is Karimoor stuff any good. It was cheaper than I was expecting. Everything on sale price. Jackets £13 each or 2 jackets for £20.

I have some ponytail beanie hats, great if you have long hair!

All sounds good!

A number of others on the forum wear cycling jackets, they are generally longer and have lots of pockets👍🏼

No big difference in the jackets... a cycling one would do the job. All snug all the time on bottoms... shorts over them for the guys as they don’t hide a lot 😂. The enjoyment will probably come soon, in consolidation you’ll keep repeating until it’s very comfortable and then you have time to think and enjoy your surroundings. Happy running.

Good feed back. I never thought of my cycling jacket. It would be perfect. I usually wear my 2-1 jacket. Proved to be too hot. I was sweating bullets the last time I jogged. I do jog with small ruck sack, that way if I'm too hot I fold it away and jog where I left off.

I've been wearing a normal half zip fleece over T Shirt and then take it off over my head while running and tie round waist using the arms. Handy to put back on too. I have been putting my phone in jodphur pocket. Bought a waist bag for it now and an arm band. Don't know which I'll use yet.

It’s not the safest area where I live so I run in my local gym and have gone back to wearing 90’s skater shorts but I think the advice for streamline joggers was good for outdoors in this weather. My partner swears by ASOS for his work out kit, so that’s another option 👍🏻

Yet another good idea. Sounds better than my ruck sack.

TK Maxx and Decathlon are good for running gear.
