W4R1 revisited - booyakashak!

Today was the day to retry W4R1 after Sunday's disaster. I felt a little nervous about it but also I had been desperately wanting to get out there and try again. Went to the park just as the sun was fading and was treated to some lovely colours along with the daffodils and crocuses etc. The dog walkers were particularly friendly today, almost as if everyone and everything was on my side! I tried so hard not to be bouncy today but I don't think I've got that licked yet, still doing my Tigger impression running around the lake. My other half couldn't run today due to injury so this was my first solo run. I remembered all your advice and although a couple of times I could feel a bit of panic rising I focussed on my breathing and calmed down again.

Anyway, the long and short of it is I smashed it! Well, for me anyway. The main thing is I completed it and nothing awful happened so it's given me a massive confidence boost. I did 3.63 km including warm up etc so I felt my pace was nice and steady. It's the furthest I have done since I last did week 4 in December. I can now cautiously look forward to Friday and doing it all again.

Thanks for all your encouragement and hope you all had good running or rest days πŸ˜€

Great news Lisa! Really well done :-)

Did you manage to leave The Watch at home?

Also, try not to think or focus on distance as yet - just keep focussing on your breathing and getting your pace right - nice n steady (slow!).

Really pleased for you. Roll on W4R2!

John

Thanks John and yes, I did leave the watch at home. It was a bit weird not having it there but I think it was definitely for the best! Roll on Friday πŸ˜€

Glad to hear it!

Now... The Watch. How about not wearing it until W9R3? Deal? ;-)

We know you could do it... and now you know it too. Well done!

It doesn't matter if you are still a bit bouncy; now that you mastered the fundamental drill - focus, breath and relax - nothing can stop you! :)
