Electric Shock Therapy

Yowsers. Just had a sports massage with electro acupuncture pen thingy. That was a novel experience. On some parts just felt like a pin-prick, others like a bee sting and others it sent the whole muscle into spasm. It did wonders for reeasing knots though. Feel much better for it.

It wasn't terribly painful per se, to be honest. More of a weird sensation than painful. Certainly light relief copared to the deep elbow intrusions of the therapist into my It band etc. There are always a couple of knots that really make you howl. I feel utterly lethargic now though. Lie someone took the energy plug out at the bottom of my body and it all just drained away. I an sort of nice way though. Could happily curl up and snooz.

I love sports massage. Went in one time with neck virtually immobile, hardly able to turn it at all. Came out feeling like an owl :D

I had more knots that a harbourload of fishermen. My IT band and hamstrings were in a pretty parlous state, as were my obliques. then there was a section that was absolutely trouble free before the gnraled mass of gristle that masquerades as my shoulders.

I feel lovely this evening though. My whole body feels filled with liquid languor. Feeling physically tired without any asociated soreness is a very unusual sensation. Usually fatigue is always accompanied by aches. I feel like I'm in a floatation tank or had an epidural. I have already had two naps. The therapist is in my Crossfit group and said I will feel like a gazelle doing my 200 burpees tomorrow morning. Although, now I think about a gazelle doing burpees that could mean I will just be an uncordinated mass of limbs.

the zapper pen thingy was remarkable. Any really intractable knots she just zapped with the cattle prod thing and they released at once.

What is burpees Rignold? Sounds like the effect of too much cola :D

This is a burpee. Only with poor form. Yu should get chest properly to floor - hand release burpees where you actually lift your hands from the ground at the bottom are the best way to prevent cheating on this.

Sounds interesting, although it's the kind of "interesting" that sounds more fun when it happens to other people. If you know what I mean :)

Erm... wasn't EST what they used to do to criminals and so-called 'mental' cases back in the awful dark ages, before helping the person and the illness...?

I'm glad it worked for you and that you enjoyed it though! Your descriptions make it sound fab :)

Heehee :D Lovely James used one of them on me. The little pin prick sensation is quite nice, the full on muscle spasm though, that's a whole other story! It does work wonders though, especially dissipating swelling. In the end I found I was really looking forward to the sessions -is that a bit weird? ;)

Yes AM, weird but I so get it!

Blimey! Only you Rig! That sounds brutal but hey ho if it helps with the running then I may have to consider it. Might have to drink a bottle of something beforehand though.
