Just done week 5 run 1 on my second attempt having got that far last April before pausing for some medical treatment.
Decided to try again and started at week 2 which seemed tough enough after a 5 month break.
Have been cheating by looking ahead at the weeks to see what was to come and thought week 5 was 3 X 5 min runs then week 6 was 5 + 8 + 5, all seemed reasonable and logical
I now find that week 5 run 3 is a straight 20 mins????!!!!!!!! How does that make sense?
Then week six run1 is easier (scared to look at run 2)
Am I missing something here????

If you have followed the plan there is nothing to worry about. The plan builds you up, gets you ready and now it’s time to start increasing time between walking breaks. You can do it. Actually believe it or not the plan got easier for me without the interruptions of walking breaks when I got to week 7. Don’t worry about it. The plan works, I don’t know how scientically, it just does.
Don't worry, richardvickery ! Trust the programme! You will be fine if you take it steady and be determined. Many people think that they will not be able to do w5r3, but they usually do and it gives you the most amazing feeling when you do. That is often the point where you realise that you can and will get to graduation. The transition that you go through during weeks 5 and 6 is immense and fabulous. Look forward to it and be positive!
You are getting tunnel vision and focussing on the run intervals. Look at the total time moving.
W5R3 is one minute less than W5R2.
W6R1 is actually the longest continual movement time up to that point. Don't make the mistake of thinking it will be easier than W5R3.
If you can't cope with looking ahead, don't do it. The plan delivers and each week it prepares you for the next.........trust it.
W5 is where you have to begin to believe you can be a runner. If you don't believe then there is not much point trying, but again I say trust the plan. It has worked for countless thousands just like you who doubted themselves.... do a search for W5R3 and you will see what I mean.
Good advice so far. Nothing wrong with consolidating shorter runs into a longer one. Also looking ahead isn't cheating (riding a bike is). I had the whole 9 weeks printed out on a memo board. It was a great motivator for me to look ahead and see what I would be achieving in the weeks ahead.
I would never have started without knowing what was expected of me and I relished each challenge as it came, knowing that if I did not complete, all I had to do was repeat.
I sometimes wonder if I am genetically different to all these people who fear the training plan they chose to undertake. A mystery to me....
Maybe we don't all have your inner confidence, IonnodaTruffe (or are trying to get it back after having lost it through life experiences). If I'd KNOWN at the beginning I would complete the plan with surety, I'd probably have been a runner all my life. It's hard for many, and continues to be a challenge even after graduation. Don't think you're genetically different - we all have different issues and fears!
Yes..trusting the programme and having faith in yourself.
Each run prepares you for the next..😊
Anticipation...not apprehension...delight..not dread. Look how far you have come..not how far to go.
Slow and steady..relax..breathe gently..If you are struggling..slow down more..and forget looking what the next runs are...wait...trust and...know you are ready for them.

I too just finished Week 5 Run 1... I am very excited to push myself to the next two runs in this week!!! You can do it as well! The program works! Lots of people on here are evidence of this fact!
Richard do yourself a big favour and look at a selection of the W5 posts and see how many talk about R3 and are scared, trepidatious...etc
Then check out how many are headed up OMG I did it, it's in the bag...
W5 is setting you up to run longer, the forum posts in W5 will too! Good luck oh and btw the R3 grin afterwards is one of the widest you have...
Actually you may find it different to what you are thinking. I managed week 5 run 3 and felt on a high, that I had finally become a runner, week 6 would be a breeze. In reality week 6 run 1 was the hardest run to date, no idea why. So just take each one as it's comes . 😀
