W5R1 done then got an almighty cold

Hi,

I completed Week 5 Run 1 the week before last, then I caught my toddler's cold. I'm hoping to get running again next week but don't know whether to repeat W4 or just to start W5 again.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any advice much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi sorry you are feeling rubbish. It seems colds and illness have been the bane of many a life this week.

If I were you I would just either repeat week 5 run 1 or carry on with run 2 if you feel up to it! You'd be surprised how much your fitness has improved.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for your reply Elsie. I think you're right, I'm assuming I will have lost all fitness in a week and a half!!

Thank you for your encouragement, I think I will start Week 5.

Almost exactly the same as you. Going great, completed Wk 5 Day 1 and syching myself up for day 3 when bam..... two days in bed with flu then still felt grotty for another 7 days. In the end it was 2 weeks before I felt up to the gym on Friday. I went back to Week 4's routine, and did the same again today. What I will say is that despite feeling rough for 2 weeks and doing nothing but coughing I am amazed that I could step right back in to Week 4... running for spells I didn't ever think I could do at the turn of the year. Back to Week 5 next time... feeling very positive.

I had hoped I would be back running tonight but, like you, I still feel rubbish. I can see I am going to need this next week to clear my sinuses. I might very well do the same as you and drop back down to Week 4.

Thank you for replying.

Good luck for your Week 5 - you will do it!
