time to brave scary running shop...

I graduated about 18 months ago and since then I have been running very happily with a pair of Decathon's own brand shoes (I live in France). Went to Decathlon yesterday to discover that the ones I like have been discontinued, and that I need to get into "brands" to have something similar. Given the cost of said branded shoes, I'm psyching myself up to go to a scary running shoe as I figure that for that kind of money I want them fitted properly. (I was looking at a pair of ASICs which that cost double what I'd expected to spend. Then again if I use them 3 times a week for a year, then thats a 1Euro per outing...)

will let you know... But abit down about it as I like my current shoes....

Have you googled to try and find those shoes? It's likely that someone will hold stocks. If so, get a couple of pairs. shops do sell discontinued lines but would rather sell you the new more expensive version. It's worth doing some online searching ☺

Thanks for the idea MW - tried it but they seem thoroughly out of stock in my size. Will just have to be brave and go to the shop.

Scary running shop is only scary until you go there. Once you're in there you will find it's welcoming friendly running shop.

There is an old army saying that you should not begrudge money spent on your boots or your bed, because if you're not in one, you're in the other.

That is sooo true Rig .

My hubby was in the army and is always saying to me " Look after your feet !!! " He's got gorgeous feet , whereas mine are proper trotters Ha ha !

Hope you get sorted Ajwlyd :-) xxx

Eventually scary running shops will turn into very enticing and tempting running shops!

Running shops are OK, friendly because they want your money.. And to look after your feet further you must have good socks! Running socks!

Definately a fan of socks ! Actually think I'm quite lucky as I have not had any foot trouble due to this running lark. I put it down to the custom insoles that I have for my arthritic knees - side benefit is that they take care of my feet. I've also started taking the advice from "running like a girl" which is to put moisturiser on feet before each run. Keeps them lovely and soft !

The protective cushion panels built into running socks prevent blisters.

I always wear them when I put on my running shoes and never had the slightest problem..
