I needed new trainers. My old ones have 2 holes in (since the hubby washed them and put them in the blloming tumle dryer!) and they are 2 years old. They are the first trainers I have actually used for exercise and have seen me well. (Sketchers)
I have just started the c25k programme and thought if I had to get new trainers this should be taken into account. I am still very obese and anything to minimise possible injury is a good thing.
So.... gait analysis.... nearest one to me was at a Runners Need store within Snow and Rock in Birmingham.
I went in very very nervous. I spoke to the assistant and explained what I wanted. I got into the treadmill in the middle of the store and did a 7k (speed not length!) jog for 20 seconds (I didn’t dare go any faster for fear of falling off but it was enough for a gait analysis!) I listened to all the advice and went on the treadmill again.
I have come away with an all round pair of wide fit trainers with additional high support insoles as this worked out the most comfortable option for me.
Now, no one laughed at me. Apart from when I said I really wanted the pretty coloured ones 😂
I actually jogged slowly in a public place!!!!! I didn’t break the machine and no one laughed. The assistant did overload me with info but was so supportive and non judgmental and if I try them out in treadmill only I can return them too.
I just wanted to post this so if you are thinking of a gait analysis but are self conscious, old, obese, anything else just do it! (If really bad go in usual work hours as they are quieter)
Finally - look at my new babies! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
