So I braved the scary running shop

...and this is what I brought home. Not so scary actually - there was a very friendly and helpful 20-something man who gave me lots of time. I'm glad that I practised on the gym treadmill last week - however badly that went- as I was on the shop treadmill repeatedly - first barefoot then with each pair of shoes. In the end I had to stop him from bringing more pairs out as I was getting confused! I already knew that I pronate a lot so went for the most corrective pair that I tried, which were Mizuno. I do feel a bit sad that I didn't get Brooks shoes - both my daughters have had Brooks so in my mind they are 'proper running shoes '. However these are quite pretty

It took me about 3x to really brave the scary running shop. The first time I sort of prowled around it, the second time I actually went inside it, but they were very busy and I felt well and truly ignored. Not really surprising when I'm skulking round the edge pretending to look at shoes. The third time I told myself not to be so stupid, middle-aged (alright... old) overweight women have as much right as anyone else to run, and I walked in bold as brass, had a great time, talked running with a customer who was about 30 years younger than me and came out with my current running shoes. Oh, and the knowledge my gait is neutral.
