Well after my first disastrous attempt in a chain in London, I plucked up the courage and headed off to a local shop I didn't know existed tucked away down a side street to find some new trainers... Wow, what a difference π I may have ended up spending a bit more than I'd hoped but was taken seriously and the personal service extended to spotting the hidden goth-rock metal 1980s teenager with the comment 'you might be struggling with the available colours' π
Fascinating to see the video analysis and found some beauties, even if they're not purple and the tread should give me better grip compared to my current pair. I won't diss my cheap adidas ones though, they've got me to week 8 without any issues but when I put one on each foot at home, the inner sole felt like cardboard in comparison!!
So as my new friend said yesterday, I should now fly to week 9... Here's hoping!
Happy running π

Thanks! I'm looking forward to taking them out π The chap was super helpful and explained everything I needed to understand as a novice, hereally took the time and effort with a tubby trotter π’π
Thanks! I hadn't wanted to spend too much at first as I wasn't sure how I'd get on with running... It's the last thing I thought I'd enjoy and more importantly stick with! Good luck with your last run ππ»
Lovely shoes and wishing you many happy miles in them
I have to add though - right now I am reading a manuscript for an old friend. He has written the tale of his life and adventures and asked me to read over it critically and give him as much feedback as possible about style, readability, grammar etc etc so I am kind of in that 'ultra-analytical' mode right now.
Which is why I had a sudden blank happen in my minds eye when you wrote above that you had a PAIR of old shoes, then got this nice new PAIR shoes, then went home, then put "one on each foot"....do you see where I got a bit confused momentarily? LOL
Ah ha, well if you thought I was being a bit crazy and had one new trainer on one foot, an old trainer on the other and I was prancing round my living room... that was exactly what I was doing, the easiest way I thought to make a direct comparison π I just have to make sure I don't go out like that... This has happened before with ordinary shoes so not outwith the realms of possibility π
Thanks π They're Ride9s, the chap said they'd get more comfy the more I used them, something to do with the insole... I wasn't sure if it was just incentive to keep me going π I'm half expecting them to do the running for me πππ»
Congrats on getting some lovely shoes - and for seeking out professional advice. Something I think I might do if I remain motivated after graduating with the running - and when I get some spare cash! Good luck with your final week before graduating and happy running!
