Fingers-crossed; 5k here I come!

Well, this really is breaking new ground - I've never written a blog nor have I, as an adult, run further than to the foot of our stairs. But I fancied a change for 2016 so I'm binning the wine, the gin (for now), the crisps 😪, the lolling around and have joined a Pilates class (paid £54 for 6 session so got to go now!), ordered a new bathroom suite and started running. Or rather started wobbling around the rainy lanes.

So far I've completed day 1 week 2 and after a dodgy start when I questioned the whole idea of getting fit this way, I have to admit I love it!!

Jogging very very slowly, listening to Amy Winehouse and dodging the puddles, whilst enjoying the outside world - what could be a better way to start the new year? I'm hoping this isn't just another of my fads - photography, dog-training, the soil-less torture chamber of the local gym - and that I really do make it to 5k. I'll keep you posted 😉

Well done! I graduated today after never even thinking that this would be possible ... my first run of Week 1 left me feeling as if it was pointless and going to be impossible but now, I know different! Keep at it, well done for starting and definitely keep us posted :-)

Keep going Wendy. It can seem a long way off when you first start! Week 6 run 1 for me tomorrow and would have never thought it possible.

Well done you!

He he it's great isn't it. Like you the only running I had done before was for the bus and I couldn't imagine being able to run non stop for 5 minutes let alone 30. It's amazing how the programme works and although it's a 9 week/step programme by week 7 you're running non stop so the change comes really quickly. Don't feel daunted by looking ahead at the programme just take it the way it's set out and believe in the programme because it works!

I can bet by the end you won't be dodging those puddles because you'll be happy to run through them to get a better time and, if you're someone who enjoys trail running, you'll enjoy getting muddy.
