Aaaargh! Physio here I come.

Still only managing one run a week. I'm so frustrated I could screeeeeaam! Each week my hip clears up and then as soon as I run *snap* and I'm back where I started. I've just been running on it anyway but it makes hard work of it and I'm struggling with 5k when it should be a breeze by now. I've hit the credit card with a new pair of Brooks trainers which were recommended so waiting for them to arrive. I've also bitten the bullet today and booked an appointment with a local sports physio next Friday so I can find out what the problem is. It's not my joint, it's muscular or tendonitis or something. Once I know what I'm dealing with it will be better I hope! I was hoping I'd be up to 6 - 7k by now. I wanted to get up to that level so that all the 5k runs I planned to go in for this year would be a walk in the park. Feeling decidedly miffed right now. It was all going so well...

Thanks Fitfor60. Running should be such a natural thing. It's funny that it seems to cause so much angst!

It could be something as simple as an insert needed for your trainers. My son had hip pain when running and he went to see a sports physio who suggested these inserts which go on top of your normal trainer insole - it was almost instantaneous the relief for him - no pain! Good luck.

I actually think it may be aggravated by my trainers. They're great but after gait analysis I was recommended stability ones to correct and outward facing foot I have. That could have caused it but now I just need to put right the injury. I did try on the new trainers in the shop but ordered them online as they were cheaper! Be interesting to see if they make a difference. Thanks Clancypants.

Ohhhh what a ***** pain in the ***** and a **** nuisance! I feel for you JennyJenJen. The Brooks sound like a good investment though. Am well jel. I've had the most awful few months of injuroes but am now back at 90% which is good enough for me, so be good to your body - wait until it's safe to bash it up again! Sending positive waves your way.....Ommmmmmmm....

Lol, thanks Dan :-) Hoping to be fighting fit soon.

I sympathise with you as its so frustrating. I had 3 running injuries last year (different ones) but sports physio did sort them. Good luck!

Ooh really feel for you. Now that we've caught the running bug it's really hard to give it up even for a little while, isn't it? Hope the physio helps you out. You'll be fine for the runs you've planned.

Fingers crossed that the shoes sort things out for you so you can get back to some pain free running. The inserts have been talked about on here before and they seem really good. Your physio should shed light on what's going wrong. It's very frustrating for you but hang in there Jen

Yes, it's really hard Princess. We've come so far just to fall at the next hurdle.

I had masses of problems when I first started going to Jogscotland last year and was forever at the massage therapist. Then went to Run4it shop where they assess you on a treadmill and got a pair of Brooks by the recommendation. Not looked back. Hope they work for you.

That sounds promising Windswept, thank you. Hope so. Wish they'd hurry up and get here! Post probably held up in the floods!

Ow, I really feel for you.

I have been through similar. My Osteo. / Physio has really sorted me out. Some heavy weight manipulation sessions, some exercises, and a big tweak to my running shoe insoles, and I am back on the up. You will be too, so keep the faith, and take it easy.

Sorry to hear you've still been having pain in your hips Jenwrenarm, I can totally sympathise - I've found that having at least 2 days rest between runs has helped, but my hips still really ache towards the end of each 5k I do, and even though I stretch, they still ache quite painfully after each run. Hopefully the physio will be able to offer advice and alleviate the discomfort. Well done on getting the gait analysis done, I still haven't done it and am about to go abroad for 3mths for work, so won't get it done til I get back, doh. I'm a little nervous about getting the gait analysis done and have them spending time on it with me, and then the trainers being really expensive so then leaving without buying anything and getting them online instead!
