Couldn't go out running for a few weeks family problems. So started again at week 5/2 and did a couple of runs,so it wasn't bad. Now I've got flu so not going out again. Since I graduated it feels like one step forward and two back.

What do you do in the winter if the weather is bad, I'm thinking about buying a cross trainer.

Once you've ran a couple of times in bad weather its not so bad, after I first graduated I avoided running in the wind, but now I don't notice it as much. Once you get into a good pace not much can put you off to be honest, and with rain...well once your wet your wet!! if you see what I mean, you can't get wetter than wet haha! So get out there and brave the elements, its a great feeling when you get back from a really blustery run and jump into that lovely hot shower! :D

What do I do if the weather is bad?: I go out and run. There's always the shower back home to warm up in after and a nice towel to dry off with. It really isn't that bad once you get started.

Make sure you dress warmly (and you will soon realise that you are probably overdressed - with a bit of experience you will find that you can leave some of the layers at home). The 2 bits of kit I think are essential in bad weather are a beanie hat and a pair of thinnish gloves. If the head and hands are warm, the rest of you will follow suit.

I ran right through last winter (well, from November) and only lost about 3 runs when the snow was just too deep. Your runs may be a little shorter or the route has to change, but you can usually get out. Dreadmills and similar articles of torture are the work of the devil. I avoid them like the plague

Sorry you are unwell and hope you can get back out there soon. As for bad weather, I think it's just a case of layering up and getting use to the odd day of biting wind and cold rain. Gloves and a hat also make a big difference. I don't know where you live but here in the 'sunny' south of England, I reckon we get off quite lightly as far as the weathers concerned. If it gets icy, I have some playing fields I should be able to run round so as not to slip too much. I also have trail shoes as I like to go off the beaten track a little. I normally love the snow, but have mixed feelings about it now I am running! Although, how beautiful will it be...running (carefully!) in the snow! ❄️🏃🏻❄️🏃🏻❄️

Run outside. You'll feel hardcore and earn extra bragging rights.

Hi, I'm only a beginner, Week 7 run 2 this morning... am heading out in a mo' and it is chilly!

But, my advice, for what it's worth is, it's okay to feel fed up...and if you have the flu, get over that properly before you start your runs in earnest.

When you feel better, maybe start with an easy run; layer, like everyone says, and take it steady.

I go out layered and other than rain on my glasses, I have been fine. There always seems to be somewhere to run, to avoid the ice and slippery conditions.

I feel that you might get even more fed up, pounding away inside, and as Jules50 says, that hot shower when you get home and the glow from getting out there...priceless!
