5k in Vegas - week 8 run 3

I'm over the moon that I managed to reach my goal of running 5k in the Rock 'n' Roll event in Las Vegas - the whole reason I took up the Couch to 5k programme.

I managed to do it in 37 minutes, which is the furthest and fastest I've ever run. It was hard work at times, but my reason for running (to raise money for my cousin who had her life totally changed last year as a result of a devastating reaction to her nut allergy), my partner (himself a marathon runner, who thoughfully ran at my slower pace), the support I had back home and the sights of Vegas by night got me through, even to finish with a sprint!

Now getting over the jet lag, but if anyone fancies a fun weekend combined with a 5k, 10k, half or marathon - I can definitely recommend Vegas!

Thanks also for the support and inspiration I have received via this forum and to 'relentless' Laura for keeping me going πŸƒβœˆοΈπŸ˜ŽπŸŒŸπŸŒ™πŸΈπŸΎπŸ…πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  • Fantastic- and what a great photo :)

  • Congratulations!! That sounds such good fun - hope it had cooled down a bit at night.

  • Thank you! Yes it was perfect running conditions, especially as I was really worried I'd be too hot. Unfortunately the poor marathon runners on the following night had to deal with strong winds, a sand storm, colder temperature and even some rain!

  • Congratulations! So good to read about other people's successes - great pic too!

  • Congratulations and well done. That sounds an amazing adventure and something to be really proud of ☺

  • Great pic, and it sounds like you had all the right reasons to dig deep and find the motivation. Well done!!
