Went for the third run of week 8. All was going well until 10 minutes in I caught some wet leaves, took a fall and went over on my ankle😢 I carried on with a mixture of walking and running and finished the course. Then when I got home and took my trainer off the pain was pretty bad. Now I am sitting with my foot raised, icing it and taking painkillers. Bruising is appearing and it's really swollen😭 Not sure when I will be back on the programme after this set back. As it is it's difficult to walk let alone run😞
Sprained ankle : Went for the third run of week... - Couch to 5K
Sprained ankle
Ouch. look after yourself.
Oh dear! Your not supposed to do that Lady, hope it's better soon, one of the hazards eh.. Not always easy to avoid leaves😉
Ouchy! Looks nasty. Take care of it!
Wow, you sound so brave, lesser mortals would be in tears and quite possibly not carrying on for the rest of the run! Hope the pain subsides soon. RICE plus lots of tea, ibuprofen, and definitely NOT PANICKING. Hope it heals very soon
I worry about wet leaves this time of year, hope you heal very soon!
Oh now, poor you!!!! Wet leaves and slippy mud are a real worry aren't they ? I'm not sure I'll carry on running in the hills during squishy winter months .. may possibly retreat to a track/treadmill. Hope your ankle gets better quickly!
😟😟😟😟
That looks nasty!
Be sure to not come back before its ready. Good luck and take care
Thanks. The swelling has gone down but the pain has increased so I'm off to the Doctors today. I think, sadly I will be out for some time.
Better to be patient now than to cause any long term damage
Just back from the doctors and she says it's a bad sprain. I've got to rest it for at least 3 more weeks. She wanted to give me 2 months off work which I thought was excessive. I can't sit and do nothing for all that time.
Two months on and I can now walk 5K in 45 minutes. Ankle felt sore half way through but I don't think it will be long before I get back on the programme! I might as well begin at the very beginning again.
Good to read you're on the mend . Take it easy and Good Luck ! xxx
