Gahhh! Set off last night for my usual 5K ( oh how weird that sounds - still haven't got used to the fact I've graduated!) - I'd decided to repeat wk9 r3 and continue to 5K; I've tried the stepping stone and speed podcasts but felt like a return to the familiar for a while ( NOT ' Me and Julie' though...really haven't missed that!)
I don't know what it was...I'm blaming the fact that I ate two,or possibly even three (😱) Mr Kipling jam tarts that our recent visitors left for the fact that I started fine; did the first K in 5 mins 32 ( maybe too fast and tired too soon?) but after that really struggled and found myself walking after 3 K. I tried to get myself going again, but just felt rubbish and heavy as lead...so I walked the rest of the way home ( about 2 K ish).
I felt awful - I never had to repeat any of the C25K runs, and never walked at all until I accidentally did the speed podcast and continued to 5 K afterwards! I suppose I just have to tell myself that a bad run is better than no run at all; at least I got out and did some exercise, and should put it down to experience. I'm off to Venice tomorrow with friends - they all run, and some are keen to run while we're there - so I'll take my kit and see if I can do better with that fabulous blue sky above me and the sound of church bells ( and gondoliers sniggering...) onwards and upwards, hey!
