Set out into a sunny wintry day ... a few hailstones still on the ground from an earlier storm. Just after warmup, start of icy rain... first k, calves tight, the river turbulent and water pouring out of one of the storm drains from snowmelt post blizzard... second k through the little bit of forest, a bit better. Third k, don't speed up, bye bye road back home, sunny again as I head to town, 4K I could run forever, this must be my happy pace, 5k turn round OMG THOSE ARE SOME BLACK CLOUDS but over my shoulder still sunny, 6k look a complete rainbow it's so beautiful, oh, look, HAIL!! Wind!! Arms out and can't help it, accelerate into a sprint -- run! Blow! Hail! Sun! Whee!! Slow down, rain gone, 7k in one hour exactly. How fantastic is this game!!
Must go now and put together my son's disco birthday cake. 5 years old!! Did the sponge last night thank goodness...

Thanks! The whole day was great. Except for the dishes.
7K!!!! Wow you are running some, must have been the benefits of all that high altitude training coming into play. Well done you, glorious pic, sounds like a glorious run and hope you have a glorious birthday party for your son too.
Fabulouso!!! You are doing a brilliant job, 7km - awesome!! Happy Birthday to your son.... Hope he had a great party, hope you got a glass of something nice for yourself by the end of it!
Can't beat a large G & T post kids' party! Rite of passage! 8pm is a totally respectable time to fall asleep (any day of the week) Kids parties are exhausting for all concerned, thank goodness they are only one a year!
