Bit embarrassed on first outing, oh on second as well. Does it get any better ????
Is it usual to feel a few aches in knees/legs??? Nothing drastic and certainly not painful just can feel them and yes I am totally unfit and overweight.

err to dam right it gets better you have no reason to feel embarrassed !!
think we all felt self conscious at first but that really does soon pass Just take thing slowly and steady ,it is early days yet ,it takes time for your body to adjust to your new regime, make sure you take the rest day or days as you need to . stretch after your runs as well
keep at it
It's totally normal to have some discomfort in knees and legs, your body needs to get used to running! And yes it does get better, as long as you follow the plan and also do some stretching after your run.
I started the plan 8 weeks ago, 8 stone overweight and totally unfit, today I ran for 37 minutes and 17 seconds which I'm totally stoked at and I am loving it! I'm totally hooked on running! So it does get better, much better 😀.
The hardest part is over, you have got off the couch and started running! You'll soon catch the love of running and then you'll be surprised how much you can do!
Well done for making that start and good luck for the rest of the plan 😀
Of course it's normal. You're bound to ache
Just take it very steadily. Slow is absolutely fine. There's no other imperative with C25k except to finish the session.
Make sure you have the rest day, or two even if you're quite achey, and then set yourself up for the next session.
Have fun!
I still feel self-conscious every time I go out for a run. I'm finally getting back towards a healthy weight, but am still conscious my track suit trousers are still unflattering etc. However the real difference now is that I know that once I'm running none of that matters. Once you're there on your running route and concentrating on how your body is moving and how you're breathing, you stop worrying about how you look at all. A big part of it is finding routes where you feel comfortable running, and also some people (including me) like to go out early a.m. when fewer people are around. It definitely gets easier - basically you become a runner
When I started the programme it was Feb, freezing & I was uber self concious. I went out in black jogging bottoms, black fleece & hat. Even my trainers were black.Anything to make me more invisible. The only bright part of me was my glowing face.
But now, well the brighter the better to be honest!
Yes I'm still a bit self concious but you know what I'm out & doing it so who cares what others might think!
It definately does get easier too & yes general aches & pains are normal, but just listen to your body & the lovely Laura & you'll do just great. ☺
Happy running! ☺☺
I just finished week 3 and I was really scared to start but I get so caught up in concentrating on getting through the runs I stop caring if people are interested in how or why I am walking/ running/flailing like a mad woman.
You will still ache but you will feel better 😊
Re embarrassed - yes it get loads better - I now do not give a rats wotsit what anyone thinks when I run ! Happened slowly over the 9 weeks, Good luck with Wk1R3
Well that's week 1 over with.
Many thanks to all reply's which I read a couple of times over. I went out at 6.45am this morning found this quite enjoyable it helped that it was bright blue sky. still conscious but did it, though next week I will probably go around 6.15 or 6.30am so that I can get ready for work.
I have been looking at the strength and flex exercises which I can use on rest days.
Many many thanks to everyone. Glen
Ahh that first run. I walked out the house with my old trainers and joggers and phone in hand... Just ended up doing the walk as I couldn't bare to be seen huffing and puffing!
I'm like 7st overweight so I guess I was more worried about that... I went and got myself a cheap running bra, running legging, vest, phone arm band (only all a few £ each). It just gave me that confidence boost I needed.
Yes you'll ache. Make sure you have your rest days and ice/ elevate after each run.
I've graduated and got 2 5k runs under my belt this week. Jogged straight past a gang on lads drinking by the canal path all sweaty and puffing and thought "bet they couldn't do this.."
Life if good. It gets better. You'll feel brill. Enjoy 😀
