So long, old friend!

It has finally happened ~ I have given up the post run bacon and egg sarnie! What a wrench; no bacon fat dribbling down my chin; no ozzy egg from my girls in the garden; no sticky fingers...and hopefully, no fat round my waist.

I shall miss you; I shall miss you all...except my girth.

Oh man, talk about a sacrifice. That's a tough one, Sally!

A tough but sensible choice. I love a bacon and egg sarnie but to have one after every run would feel a tad self-defeating.

Serendipity:

400 calories in bacon & egg butty (no ketchup)

400 calories in 5km run.

are you crazy? Could you just have half instead rather than go the full cold turkey?

in reply to ju-ju-

Do you mean half pre-run and half post-run? I suspect you don't. How could you be SO cruel?

No I meant just have half of what you used to have, then you still have 100% enjoyment but half the calories :)

Nothing wrong with fat you know. Just ditch the bread!

That has just made me very hungry!! You just can't get bacon like home here!! A little time away will make you appreciate even more (if possible)!!

Best ever bacon and egg sarnie was in Yorkshire. We did Whernside [an unenjoyable slog] and came down to the 'T' van and sank our gnashers into a truly delicious sarnie all washed down with a large mug of tea. Didn't even take our sack off first. Yummy in the extreme.

I usually make myself a rosti rather than bread to go with it but I have (veggie) bacon and fried egg for breakfast a lot of the time... before running. Lower calorie than chia seeds, almond milk, ginger and banana...

I still eat bacon and egg sarnis. Grilled of course, and the egg done in a hot pan with a squirt of frylite. Nothing wrong with it at all in my book. I only generally eat one though if I have a good week on the scales. It's my reward. I don't butter the bread!

I'm afraid I am naughty...white bread, fried egg (veg fat though) and real butter. I shall change my habits and go for eggs and bake instead...

I mostly good the rest of the time...mostly.

Stay strong during this tough time #pray4sally :D

A major re-think has been forced on me...ditch the bread and go for eggs and bake instead...does that mean I can have twice as much bacon???

Just ditch the bread... you can still have bacon and eggs :) Apparently - and I do underline the "apparenlty - is not the real fat in foods that turns into fat around the waist (within limits I presume!)

in reply to Pigivi

Cooo. I shall go for good old egg and bake then. Brown sauce and the occasional sarnie...just for old times sake, you understand!

I like a Spanish omelette, which is baked eggs with all sorts of fab ingredients, including bacon☺

Now, there's an idea. Not had one of those for many-a-year. Thanks.

I have just read this post ( and all of the replies ) and I am now totally craving eggs & bacon ....

You can't give it up totally! Dry fry on a high quality pan and save the 'classic' (Inc butter and white bread) for special occasions.

It's a real tear-jerker isn't it? I shall keep buying my local butcher's bacon [wonderful chap who has just had a second hip replacement, and I couldn't be the one who is responsible for putting him out of business] and eating it. Grilling the bacon and dry-frying or veg fat frying.

On its own, no bread and maybe, just maybe a steaming hot mug of tea...Earl Grey, of course!!
