Being new to all this running lark I've been reading posts about park runs and wondered what they were so just googled them and wow there is one in my town every Saturday! So that's me planned out once I've done race for life! 😀

parkrun is fantastic. Such a good idea to get people off the couch and into their running shoes. Gonna do one more then volunteer.

Yes they are great. Why don't you give volunteering a go until you are ready to run?

A great idea to meet some of the others involved and then when you do run you'll have some people who know you to cheer you on (and they will !)

way to go :D

Saw your post and thought I would check park run online as well. Looks great and they are 5k so should be doable...... soon (I'm W6 at moment). And amazingly there is a park run adjacent to where I ran this morning so am going to check it out and perhaps volunteer as henpen90 suggests - as I will need all the support I can get!

I think parkruns are fantastic. They are something to keep you motivated (particularly important when you reach the end of week 9 and think "What next?"). I've done them at 6 different venues now, and whilst each has been different, I've not been to a bad one yet. I have plans to visit 3 more before the end of June (it would have been 4, but I haven't found a local one for the Saturday I'm in Cambodia...).

The concept is good, the organisation is brilliant. I'm a fan.
