Hi all, I've been lurking on here a little while and a few of you have mentioned Park Run, can you tell me what it is?
I've recently completed C25K, running thru my local woods, which I love!
Thanks

Have a look at parkrun.org.uk/
There are many 5k runs around the country, which are free and usually on a Saturday morning. It's really a time trial so you can compare your time with your previous efforts rather than a race. Having said this I'm registered but I haven't completed one yet, I've got Week 9 to finish first and then I'll be giving my local run a go in a couple of weeks.
Park Run is an organised 5K run in many parks around the country. They take place on saturday mornings. If you google "Park Run" you will be able to get the link and sign up. Once you hane signed up ( it's free) you can download your barcode and take it to any park that participates and do the run.
They happen at 9am every Saturday morning. I started ,my C25K journey 2 weeks back and coincided my first podcast with a park run, my podcast ran out way before the end of the park run, but just carried on walking/running as much as I could. I was a bit wary of Park run at first as I have done NO exercise before this, but they have a big mix of abitlites and they are really friendly, I would highly recommend attending one if you can and it is a good way of logging your improvement on the journey.
Be careful though, some aren't in parks and start at 9.30!
Crox
Start at 9.30 ?
Edinburgh parkrun.org.uk/edinburgh/, runs along a coastal path, didn't read the event page so I turned up half an hour early, no breakfast because I took an early bus out of the city, would have been a good time but I ran out of steam...
But they are usually friendly
ha ha
Thanks for the replies everyone- my nearest is probably Brighton, sounds fun
Yes I did notice that there is a Brighton park Run in Brighton and Hove Park. try one, it is great, I am sure you will get hooked! I did my first on Saturday and already looking forward for the next Saturday one! Good luck!
Really enjoyed the one that I went to - the running times ranged from 18mins to 48mins, and there was a complete mixture of ages. Definitely worth a go. I downloaded a map of my one the week before from the parkrun website so that I could give it a trial run, but the route is so obvious due to the other runners that there is no need to do this (I did it just so that I could prove to myself that I would be able to run it!).
