W5R3 WTF ? 20 mins ? Laura are u mad
Take it slow, give it your best shot and you will surprise yourself.
Pretty much everyone dreads this run but the vast majority get through it. Even if it doesn't quite work out, it's not a disaster. You are improving every time you go out almost without you even realising it.
Hi
I felt like you a couple of days ago, but went out this morning for W5R3 and it was probably the run I have enjoyed best! Good luck - just go for it!
Be positive.
It's a challenge for sure, but if you've got this far, then you are ready. Tell yourself you can do it and you're half way there. Remember Laura saying "it's just a light jog" in one of the early runs? Well it's still true. Just keep taking the next step and you'll get there.
This run, more than any other, tests your mind, not your legs. Trust the training you've done so far and hit the road. The feeling you will have at the end of the run is a reward worth working for.
Be positive.
You have got this far - you can do it - just trust yourself and the programme. As said above give it your best shot in a s-l-o- w and steady way. Don't try and Hare off be a Tortoise and you'll get there
Look this one is a mind game, Laura's training the old grey matter to let your legs run on a bit longer. Start out slow then drop down a gear because that way you'll have enough energy to keep going. May the force be with you....... X
I felt exactly the same as you yesterday, but I went out, did it, and survived! Give it a go! Take it slow and enjoy π
Just have a go mate take it really really really slowly. Its about getting it done at this stage rather than speed or times. Building that firm foundation level of fitness that you can worry about building on in the future.
Don't give in to the gremlins. Strangely enough, I was dreading that run too but know what? It's over before you know it, and you'll feel fantastic. Think about all the other times you thought you'd never be able to run 3 mins, Five mins, 10 mins... You CAN do it. Forget the numbers and just run, jog or amble till the voice in your ears says "stop". Onwards and forwards, Gordon!
You will be really surprised. Slowly slowly and slower still. You can do it. Trust Laura and BANISH those nasty gremlins. Good luck and keep us posted
I know exactly how you feel. The jump from 8 to 20 minutes seems huge. I'm due to do it tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on.
Gordone4. I just completed my w5r3 this morning.. So i can assure you that it is possible. I managed to drag my 19.5stone around for 20mins, and to be honest, i reckon i could have gone further.. So have confidence.. You can do it.. Slow and steady.. Its not a race!!
You can run 5 minutes ok, so start by telling yourself "it's only 5 minutes" then after that 5, "ok, just another 5 minutes" etc. Your brain knows that you can do 5 minutes and before you know it Laura will be saying "well done, that's it!" It worked for me. Good luck!
I did it last week. I was dreading it like you, but I took all the advice from here and took it very slowly. I you can do it and you will feel brill afterwards
The thought of it is much harder than doing it, honestly. Once you get going Laura will give you little updates on how far you have gone and once you hear that you've got half way you will think I'll just keep going a bit longer, and then you'll hear that you've only got five minutes to go and you'll think - I can do this! And those magic words 'Just one minute left!' are music to your ears and you will soon be walking and feeling a million dollars, having achieved what you once thought was impossible! Keep going and enjoy xx
