20 mins!!!!!!!

Okay so I’m on week 5. 😁 did my first run and it was 5mins per run. Great managed that. However I looked at the other two runs and it jumps to 8 mins run 2, to 20 mins run 3!!! I’m a bit worried about this!! Anyone feel this is a big jump or am I overreacting?

You really will be okay. All the runs up until now have prepared you for it. Just trust the plan. Good luck 😊😊

You might not believe it now but you absolutely can do this- if you have followed the programme and completed all runs leading up to this then relax and by end of week 5 you will be celebrating have far you have come!

Oh I hope so. I just feel a bit scared to be honest. So far I have completed every level and managed it. I don’t want that to change!

Well done for getting to week five! I have just completed week 2 and really enjoyed it so far. But the thought of my next run running for 3 minutes scares me!! How did you get on with week 3?

It was easier than I thought. The tips from the app are good. Not going to fast and not bouncing helps. If I can manage 20 mins anyone can as I’m not a natural runner

Well done.

Look how far you have come.

Now it is time to trust the plan and believe in your amazing body......you can do this.

This might put it all into perspective healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Thanks for that. I just have to have a can do attitude 😁 tomorrow is 8 mins which I’m not too worry about. Watch this space!!

Seriously you'll do it, and also just about everyone dreads w5r3 and then they do it and it's no biggie!

When I did w5r2, I found the 5 minute walk between the two 8 minute stretches quite boring. After a couple of minutes walking I'd recovered my breath and was ready to go again. I think this tells you you are ready to do longer continuous runs. It's a psychological thing rather than physical.

Also r3 which jumps from 16 to 20 mins running is less of a jump than Wk3 to Wk4 when you jump from 9 mins running to 16, and are running more than you can walk. If you managed 3->4 you can easily manage 4->5, and once you've done the 20 mins run and realised you didn't conk out you can feel a lot more confident about finishing the whole thing.

Hi Joanna I did run 2 on Wednesday- to be honest that wasn’t so bad- just think slow and steady. Today I did run 3 and yes it was hard, I have asthma and copd so do find running outside a struggle but you know what I did it! I just ran super slow 😁 I posted exactly the same as you basically thinking it was impossible and a massive jump but you can do this! As I said, slow and steady and put some chilling tunes on 😁 You’ll be super pleased once you have nailed the next 2 runs!! x

Yay well done!! 😁 You will of course be able to do 20 minutes, just slow things down and think about something other than the time! 😁😁

The word flabbergasted doesn’t even come close. This app really works!!! At the beginning I couldn’t even breath after 90 second run. Wow 😮

Great job on the 5s... now add them up and also the brisk walk breaks, it’s all cardio. Look at run 2 and add that all up to. The 20 minute run is your shortest cardio workout of the week. Your body will have worked harder in the intervals. That run 3 is a mental challenge. When you get to it, start deliberately slowly and ease up to your normal pace over a few minutes. You can do it.

Go slowly. Trust yourself and trust the program. 😁
