Half marathon
i have my first half marathon in September too! a scary thought isn't it! i am slowly increasing my distance and not worrying about time at the moment. also doing some cross training on no run days. not much help i know lol
best of luck
happy running
shall we keep in touch and support each other? where are you running the marathon?x
yes sounds good I am entered for the Wirral HM, 13th September.
hi, i have started cross training of sorts! it is a program called T25, 25 minutes 5 days a week with rest on Saturday and stretches on Sunday. I can really feel it already! I feel I have lost some of my fitness over the winter and it is taking too long to get it back! I am finding it hard to run for 40 minutes at the moment but onwards and upwards.
happy running
I am entered for one in October.
There are lots of training plans available for Half Marathons and the myasics ones are very popluar. my.asics.com
I'm entered for one in October as well! Sounds like we should form a fall first HM support group!
Sounds like an idea. I need to finish c25k first though! Thereafter I will put together a 16-18 week training plan which uses the most attractive elements of the various regimens I have already looked at.
Do you think could this support group supply some sort of motorised transport?
So far I've done mine without any rigid plan. I've been increasing my long runs by around 10% every week or two, sometimes all running, sometimes run-walk depending how I feel. I haven't done much speed work yet - I let fast runs go over the slippery winter and need to get back in the habit again. I'm up to 13km, so I think this free-styling is working okay for me so far.
Sounds good, I did Laura's speed podcast today after nearly 14k at the weekend, so am fairly confident I can build up from here
I started with the myasics plan, but found it a bit boring and unrealistic in terms of the amount of times I was running per week and the pace (too slow, amazingly, and I am not exactly fast!).
I am now less than three weeks away from my first ever HM and have been following this plan:
walkjogrun.net/training/hal...
I found it easier to adapt to my schedule.
It is more challenging, but hopefully I should be better prepared for the distance.
Good luck!
