In my 50th year and have been battling with weight and fitness for 20 years! I was never a runner even was I was young and fit. Had a real health scare 2 years ago and surgery, which should have kicked me up the backside, but doesn't seem to have. Joined ParkRun in Sept 2013, hate the running, love the people (if that makes sense) have done 30 but still no lighter or quicker!!!! Can't get to the 2k marker without waking. I have tried all sorts of training plans and given up. Came across you guys yesterday and loved some of the posts.
Just done my first 60sec run 90sec walk on our treadmill (walk at 3mph, run at 5mph) and survived. Need to crack this.

If you just follow what Laura says, you can do this!
Now that you have started you're committed to it. In nine weeks you'll be able to run right round the parkrun course, no stopping. It might not be easy, but it will be doable. Have a great time and post often.
Yep- stick with it and you should see some real progress. I'm guessing you're from one of the Chalfonts so you've got some fantastic scenery to run in!
