Completed the second run reasonably easily, but the 3 minutes of walking seems much longer than 3 mins running!

that's a good thing. It means that you are recovering quicker and ready to run again.

Good stuff. I am sure it is the opposite for most people!

I agree it sounds like you're recovering well. Try to gauge how long it takes for your breathing to calm down after each run. Then you'll see how well you adapt to the longer runs (whether it takes longer, or the same). In the beginning I'd be wheezing all the way through then I did notice that I began to recover more quickly, even though I'd feel dreadful for the first minute or two! Perhaps this is what you're experiencing too.
