I'm so happy I finally got out for a run!

I've been trying to get out for two weeks but I was so scared it would hurt my lungs, joints, pride!

Now I'm so happy I did the first run, I don't know what stopped me before!

I think I'll need a couple of recovery days but planning to go back out there on Friday!

✌️😎

You've just completed the hardest run ;) Well done on getting out there and don't worry if you feel you need a couple of recovery days. Just a little tip in case you didn't know... make sure you stretch out your muscles when you get home as that will help to prevent any post run muscle stiffness/soreness. And, of course, do let us know how you get on with your next run(s) :)

You will be amazed at your success. I hadn't run for over 40 years and can now run for 28 minutes all in the space of 7 weeks. This course is fantastic - and so are you for starting it - the first minute of week one is one of the hardest - and you've done it - well done. Keep posting - it'll keep you going.

Woo! Good job! Taking that first step, moving past your fears, that's inspirational. Try to put a pin in how good you feel after your first run, and remember it any time you might feel like skipping a run 😉

Thanks all for the lovely messages of encouragement!

I'm still pretty chuffed I finally did it! The NHS should bottle this feeling!

hilbean - thanks for the stretching advice!

I didn't stretch at all but not feeling too sore today though! Will do some stretching tonight 😎

Congratulations Reenie_Reens. 3 weeks ago that was me, and now I'm on week 4. Huffing and puffing and feeling self-conscious all the way through, but beating all that with determination. Keep going :)

Very well done. The first run really is the toughest, all the rest are just practice. :)
