I can't believe it. I did a 12K run Sunday perfectly well then did my stretches.......wherein I pulled a muscle in the back of my leg! What an idiot! So no running for me until this calms down....hopefully only a few days.
Boo hoo. Sad face. Glum Dan..

Oh NO! no no no, not another injury, poor you.. very sad face indeed...hope you're feeling better soon XXXX
The more I read about injuries involved with muscle stretching - the less inclined I am to do it!! I have attempted it - but basically have not felt any benefit (or relief?) of any kind afterwards - although I have heard many praise it.
Oh rats! What a crock of wotsit! It must only be an over-stretch. You can't have done owt major to it I'm sure (being as I'm an expert!)
Hopefully after a day off you'll be good to go for a bit of a walk on it to test it out. Walk backwards for a bit round the garden or up and down the hall if it's snowing
Oh Dan! Not you too. Be very very kind to yourself. RICE is the order for the next few days. Hope you feel a lot better soon! Big virtual hugs for you!
Hi Dan sorry to hear about your injury. I have runners knee at the mo and only managing 5ks, not to over do it. Moger (on here) recommended this to me and I am on my third day and loving it. It is easy to do, also very motivating with the daily support you get though emails and another bonus - it's free!! Give it look through, Good luck!
My sympathy, damaged my tendon at the top of my hamstring 2 weeks ago doing a stretch! Now having to rest and build up stretches slowly. Hurts to walk, cycle, sit and run! Physio also told me to try hot and cold treatment straight after each other just for 2 mins on the sore area 3 times a day to promote healing. Might take 6 weeks but don't jump back in too fast!
I've hurt myself stretching before. It was after a steep, quick run and I think because I was so warmed up and endorphin-filled I just didn't feel any resistance when I should've done (if I run to my yoga session I find my body drops much deeper into the stretches and feels great, but aches like nothing on earth the next day. Watch out for those natural painkillers!!!). Good news is, it was fine after a day or two. Good luck.
Oh what a bu**er Dan. I know we are told to stretch after a run but loads of physios, trainers, etc don't think we should as there is no evidence to say it does any benefit! I must admit I always stretch as it makes me feel more "loose" and now I'm frightened not to!
I damaged my hamstring on an orienteering event before Christmas. Still not better, but it only hurts when I sit down. Physio gave me some exercises, but said I could continue running if it did no hurt it. Did 9k yesterday with no problem. Badminton today ok, but it is a pain in the a*** as I type this.
