Hamstring warning

The day after my last run I got a few sharp twinges in my hamstring behind the knee. I’ve been doing a lot of yoga and what with that and the running I’m now scared I’m gonna get another injury! I’ve taken two rest days.

Do you think I should have more rest days? Or risk a slow run ?

Thanks guys . Send ( sorry Circle ref 😂)

May be worth resting a little more... maybe physio.

You know what how can this be happening.. literally last time I graduated I couldn’t run after and now again!!

Rest up, have the massage and tell the masseur/masseuse about the pain in detail.

When you start running again just keep your pace nice and slow and don't be tempted to stride out.

A few weeks ago I pulled my soleus muscle. Rested up for a couple of days, had a decent massage, and then rested a couple more days. Then I ran on it... and made it worse!

This then put me out for two weeks before I felt confident to run on it. When I finally did, I took it dead slow, so test the water.

So my advice, from previous bad experience.... would definitely be rest!!! Walk by all means, but just don’t run. That said, the frustration is a tough one to deal with!!!

Oooo blimey even after the massage and rest it got worse . Okay . I’m gonna heed these warnings and take your experience on board too. Hope you’re all better now!

Think I thought that once the pain was just a niggle, I’d be ok to take it gently. Went out and did a 4k, aiming for a 5k, and as soon as I hit 4k it just “snapped” and it was the best I could do to hobble home. It was my body just saying “too soon” I guess.

Proper rest is frustrating once you’re a runner... but I was glad that I did completely stop for two weeks, I must admit.

The best advice I had on here was to see a physio and in doing so (and having three courses of laser treatment) I know they got me back on my feet quicker than I would have been without. IMO you should always follow advice from @IannodaTruffe! Really feel your frustration - fingers crossed you get it sorted quickly - and not too expensively!
