Yet another report/study showing the downside of no physical activity.... well this doesn't effect this bunch of happy runners
No great surprise... but feel free to feel smug

I watched the 2nd of the 3 BBC diet programmes yesterday, and one conclusion was that people who did exercise one day actually slacked off and vegged more the next day so the (calorific anyway) benefit was partially negated. Note to self: do not slob out and eat choc on non-running days. Bummer! Off to get on the stepper and rowing machine now then .... sighs ....
I have been watching the same program... found it very interesting. I'm lucky that I don't have a weight problem, but found it interesting never the less.
Have fun on that stepper
I watched the thing on telly news this morning but I was a bit disappointed with the expert they wheeled out. He was a bit lukewarm to say the least. He urged people to get up every hour and take a few paces. Big deal!
They should have had that presenter off Fat Families! He'd be having their sofas carted off to the tip
And on that note, I'm off for a run.
Hear hear. If morbidly obese folk think a 20 minute amble is going to save their life we're I trouble ...
It's a START. 20 minutes of ambling is better than 20 more minutes of couch sitting. And enough rounds of it eventually lead to realizing you can do something a little harder. After months of relaxed, meandering, exploratory walks around my new city, i can recall noticing that I could go farther in the same time. So then I made a point of some of the walking being for walking's sake and I got brave enough to walk up hills and stairs I had been avoiding. Once I realized I could walk 5k, and it was doing me good, I figured if I could run it, it would do more good. Or at least the same amount of good with less time investment.
Some of us may have earned the right to be smug about our own efforts. But that shouldnt extend to being derogatory of others efforts. You don't know who is lurking about, still struggling to get properly started or re-started.
One thing I like about this forum is that it is supportive of everyone's efforts, unlike some places. i have been gone a while, struggling with issues that have set me further back than when I began c25k. i am pretty much back to having to force myself out of the house to walk. Please don't tell me thats not good enough. it is inaccurate and mean.
Andy - just did half an hour of garage gym and feeling smug now
It's a shame folks get so bad though before the realisation dawns. It's the lack of motivation you have to wonder at.
