I started on my first run last night and I nearly did it all apart from the last 2 runs which I just could not do as I was breathing so hard so just had to walk the last 5 mins. Has anyone else had this problem?q
First time: I started on my first run last night... - Couch to 5K
First time
Yeah what I did is turn my music up so I couldn't hear my own breathing, it worked for me, good luck
well done on making a start that is often the hardest part .. Run as slow as you can from the 1st run , the idea is to completeh the timed runns with the walks letting you recover . it does work maynot seem liek it but it does stick at it you will be fine
it took me about 7 weeks when I started before I could do the whole of week 1's runs. Mind you I think I was trying to run too fast, on top of being very very unfit, but you wont be alone in not being able to finish it on your first time out. As Slow_Rob says, run slowly, and you will do it.
Yes, I could not manage the 5 cool down walk, staggered home and sat for about an hour trying to recover. Almost gave up. For some reason run 2 went better, but I did slow down to almost walking pace. Eventually the breathing will improve, just give yourself time and listen to Laura. Considering what I felt like after my first ever run I was amazed and delighted to clock up my best ever distance this week of 6.5 km, all running with no walk breaks. Good luck with your next run.
Blondie, that's great! You have started the program. Don't rush it. Repeat weeks / runs if needed as not ALL folk can complete it in 9 weeks. But the main thing is you got out there and started to change your life. This forum is FULL TO BURSTING of peeps like you who started C25K and are now in love with running!!!!
You will be too! Go girl!
Slowly does it, the thing is to pace yourself so you can complete all the runs not go as fast as you can. Slow down, then slow down a bit more....
