First time parkrun

Hello everyone, Ive been enjoying and inspired by all the posts on here but haven't posted myself before today. I completed the C25K last year and was enjoying consolidating that half hour run, but work committments got in the way and somehow running went by the wayside... Then I was given a Fitbit for my birthday in August, which fired the desire to run right back up. It took a few sessions to build back up to the half hour run, but I got there, and with the fitbit I could now suss out distance as well, which turned out to be 4.5k. So over the last couple of weeks I've been focussing on extending my run and getting a 5k circuit planned out. And then actually completing it.. which I finally managed on Tuesday. So at last I was confident enough to give the local parkrun a go today! I came in 727th, 234th of the women and 13th in my age group! Im so chuffed and amazed and can't wait to get back out again!

Well done Valdee! 😀 So glad you are back running and loved your first parkrun! I love how everyone is so upbeat and positive, and it accepts everyone. I run it with my dog and she knows when we’re at the start and ‘gets ready’ too, looking all focused!

Here’s to many more parkruns, and happy running in between. 🏃‍♀️👍😀

Parkrun will change your Saturday forever. I did my 200th this Saturday and I started with C25K.

Congratulations Jst48. Did you do it in fancy dress?

Thank you everyone. I love how supportive this forum is! I have now completed parkrun #4 - still chuffed and amazed that I'm turning up every week and managing to jog all the way round the run without stopping. The weather has been very kind here so far and the common in Autumn is a dream to run through. My target is to parkrun each week up to Christmas. Happy running to everyone.

If you get really hooked you might consider doing it on Christmas Day too 🎅🏻🤶
