Thanks Rob but I just checked my local park run results, and it would have put me 401st (out of 461)

I think I need to get the time down a bit before trying one of these. The winning time was 16 bleeding minutes!! He must have been in a car the git.

i wouldnt worry about that meadsey , those grey hounds lap me too at mine :D it is staggering to think about running those sort of times and pace . I go to parkrun ,yeah to gauge myself against others but more the atmosphere and running with others were normally i run alone ..

i would give it ago , try once :D

hey thats a fantastic time for a first post grad run...it took me months to get mine under 30!!! well done :)

That sounds pretty good to me Meadsey! I've already signed up to our nearest parkrun with my partner (one of my New Year's resolutions) and I don't expect to come anywhere but last. I'm considering timing graduation day (4 runs to go) with a Saturday morning and doing it there instead of the usual circuits of the lake in our town park...

That's my plan exactly. My local park run is on Run 100 just as a graduate so that's my aim. Might have to be W9R2 now though as I lost a bit of time over Christmas.

Thanks all. As always you're too kind.

Ummm....EXCUSE ME !! I am always nearly last at park run but does that stop me going ? NO !! Every time I do 5K it is an achievement and you're right, it's the taking part that counts.....If everybody zipped round in 16 mins it wouldn't be inclusive at all. I hope that if anyone is thinking of doing one and comes across my times they will think "I can go faster than that" and give it a go....

Of course. I wasn't suggesting coming last was in any way bad!

I just would like to go a bit quicker if I can.

Aw, I missed your graduation! Belated congrats! Good time there meadsey and nice little goal for yourself. I'm guessing sub 30 mins shouldn't take you too long to achieve. 16 mins might take a little longer, unless of course you take the car ;)

That's an awesome time! Anyone who can do 5k in 16 mins should be locked up - it's just not sociable, is it??!!

Congrats! 32 mins is a great time. Yes, there are those that zip around Parkrun in eyewateringly fast times - but ask anyone volunteering at the finish, the respect goes to those further down the field (often much further down), who put in just as much effort. Try it - you will likely find that the adrenaline from running with others will knock time off your solo time and the atmosphere at the runs I have been to has always been great.

Cheers. I think I will at some point.

Congratulations on the graduation and a fantastic time to boot. I am hoping to do a park run at the end of the month. My best time for 5k is 40 mins so I expect to finish last, at least there won't be a crowd!!
