I love Laura. She's like a big sister in trainers. Her taste in music is dire, though. I'm loving being part of the program but Laura's particular brand of music-cheese is just, well... cheesy. I know that for copyright reasons they produced their own music, but Pseudo Take That and Techno Gubbins... Gah.
I'd been using the podcast up until now, but after a bit of a fiddle about on Google, downloaded the app. Now I can use my own playlists alongside Laura, thanks to the neat music button at the bottom. Yay! Now I can listen to my own (very particular and probably very cheesy) cheese.
Oh, and Map My Run? Won't work, unless you allow location services. All this time I've been wondering why duration states 30 mins, and distance registers at a big fat zero. Well done Allie, on your technical wizardry. Off to play on i-tunes, toole pip fellow ex-couch-potatoes.

Hmmmm...I've just done W8R1 using the app. Maybe I'll do the podcast for R2, just so I can be in with the in-crowd!
You're so right - the podcast music is mostly dire. I left them behind and switched to the app in week 5 and it's so much nicer to run to my own eclectic tastes instead (even if I do have to fight the urges to dance and/or sing, lol!). I'm on week 8 now so I think I will have to check out the famous Julie song!
I don't mind the music at all. It's not my usual choice, but to me it's just my running music and I can listen to my own eclectic choices the rest of the time. What's important to me is that it gives me a beat to run to. Having been a dancer in my dim and distant past I can only run or walk to a beat - very odd if you try to run to something like Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim!
Though that is one on the 101 running tunes album I bought myself as a graduation present. My usual preference in music is for quite odd beats... I do think running has widened my musical tastes and I agree with you gingernut, it is music for a purpose. I also feel that if you really can't put up with Laura's music for the duration of C25K, what other perceived 'hardships' are you going to let undermine your running?
I've made up my own playlist which was great fun to do, although I got a bit carried away and put The Prodigy's Firestarter on which was a bit of a mistake...
