Repeating each week....

So I did my first week runs last week and decided to take it slow and easy by repeating each week before moving onto the next week. I want to be comfortable with what I'm doing and have plenty of time. Has anyone else taken this approach?

Some do, some don't. It's entirely up to you, but the programme is designed so you shouldn't need to. It's not a race though, it's YOUR journey... good luck x

Thankyou, once I get into the swing of it I might find I can progress each week, will see how I go.

Hello there

If you feel more comfortable repeating a run or two then that's fine but the programme is designed to be progressive so you really needn't repeat runs. However, we are all, different and some will find it easier than others. Go at your own pace but have the confidence to know that you can move on

Going slowly and steadily, working through each run at a time, will get you through and hopefully in one piece

Good luck and have fun

Maybe I am just lacking a bit of confidence in these early days. Thankyou for your response.

I repeated some runs/weeks in the latter stages because I wanted to make sure my knees were up to it! I also had a sore hip at first so just took it steady for the same reason. So I repeated some of the Wk 7 runs and did 4 Wk 8 runs. Worked for me.

i'm hoping to avoid any injuries but I will see how I go. If I keep a steady pace I might find I can progress each week. Only time will tell!

I haven't said this for a very long time so it bears repeating now :D

It took me 50 runs to graduate, not 27. I repeated runs and entire weeks as I needed to. Sometimes I did push on, because I think sometimes you need to - otherwise we'd no doubt all still be repeating Week 1 Run 1. But there were other runs when I couldn't finish it and knew there was no point moving on to the next run. Sometimes I repeated the week (twice!) because I wanted to build up my confidence before I moved on. I'm one of these people who doesn't have much patience or determination, so if I can't do something, that's it - it probably wasn't worth doing in the first place and I should stop and go and do something else instead :O But for some strange reason I was determined this wasn't going to happen with C25K.

So yes, I repeated runs and weeks, but I got there in the end. That was two and a half years ago and I'm still slogging on. Not far or fast, I've had gaps for injury but never lack of determination I'm pleased to say, and I can't imagine now that I won't always be a runner.

Keep at it - it's not a race. No one is 'marking' your progress. You're doing this for you, and you will benefit. Do push yourself, though, and keep coming here to tell us how you're getting on. We're all behind you cheering you on!

HI Anniemurph, thankyou for responding. It's encouraging to know that you listened to how you were feeling and repeated where necessary. It's also good to hear that you have kept at it and I'm hoping that I can also say in 2 1/2 years time that I'm a runner. I repeated week 1 as I seriously found it difficult, but pleased to say I found week 2 not to be too much of a struggle. I will see how I go at the end of week 2 before I move on. Like you I may not need to repeat each week but I'm not going to beat myself up if I do, and will listen to my body as I don't want any injuries. Thankyou for your encouraging words.

Hi Sarahs, I did an extra day of week 2 and I have one run to go to finish week 3. I'm in no hurry and I listen to the following week's podcast and then decide if I'm ready for it before moving on. Good luck, and I hope you can find a good way to pace yourself.

Hello,

After the first couple of weeks I was surprised that I could actually move onto the next week without repeating. I'm now at week 5R3 which I found quite challenging so will repeat this one before moving onto week 6. Good luck with your running and let us know how you go.
