Anyone got experience of running in the fog? I was waiting for it to clear this morning before it got too hot to run, couldn't wait any longer so put on my hi-vis jacket from the car and off I went. I really didn't enjoy it at all, couldn't seem to get into it, felt terrible etc....I was blaming the Stamina podcast I did the other day for making me lose my pace, and fearing I would never find it again...I nearly gave up and went home, but then I passed to the other side of the valley, the unfoggy side, and suddenly found my legs...including blitzing my horrible hill and finishing on a sprint....could this be the fog? I am asthmatic, but it's controlled with inhalers.
Still the Autumnal colours made me not regret going out, it really was beautiful out there this morning, apart from the fact that the temp went from a chilly 14C at 9.15 to a too-hot-to-run 24C by 10.15!
South of France would you believe! We have very extreme temperatures here, very little between freezing and boiling, violent storms too...I don't think it was the "feel" of the run, I think it might be the crap in the fog....I'll be home in Blighty in a fortnight, might just do some "maintenance" runs until I get back.
Well done on getting out there anyway even in the fog
I have never run in the fog but am just starting to run in the dark as the days get shorter and I have found that I have to fight a mental battle against negative thoughts of staying in bed etc and tiredness. I suppose the weather must affect us. I too am asthmatic and fog is my worst type of weather for weaziness (not sure that is actually a word!) so perhaps it effects you a little?

Be very careful when you run in the fog. Drivers will not be able to see you, even with HV jackets on. I got a set of little red LED lights on a velcro strap which I wear in the dark, or fog. You feel like a Christmas tree but who cares - it's a case of 'see and be seen'. I got mine at Aldi but I've seen them in Sports Direct and not expensive.
Thanks for the tip Beek, ATM I am running on very small roads where they drive slowly and I can hear them coming even with music playing. I have some nice flashing bike lights at home in UK, I shall use those for winter. I'd like to feel like a Christmas tree! I will probably give the fog a miss in future though.
