It was a foggy start this morning which was gradually clearing when I went out for my run this morning. I took a photo of the runway at our local airport I run by as you can see the lights on the runway but it is still murky.
I started off running with my earphones in and playing some running tracks from my playlist. My leggings started to slide down but I tried to ignore them for the first 5 minutes so I could get into the swing of things. At around 7 minutes in I decided that I really needed to stop and pull them up as they were getting dangerously close to flashing dog walkers that I was passing!
I resumed my running, listening to my playlist when all of a sudden I had a malfunction on my phone and I lost my music. I opted to carry on running without the music and didn't realise how much noise I make with my breathing. It's no wonder most walkers move to the side to let me past as they can hear me coming a mile away!
I did the rest of the run without music and have to say that I did enjoy it although the music does spur me on when a gremlin gets in. I did interval this run several times as I'm also fighting a cold which the rest of the family have (had to blow my nose a couple of times) and once a month I notice my energy reserves are lower than ususal (do any women notice this as well?).
My running seems to be a bit up and down at the moment since graduating but I've made sure to take the pressure off myself by not feeling ashamed if I do need to stop for a breather/drink/pulling up clothing etc. For me it's about getting out and running when I previously would never have contemplated it. Over the past week I have been hitting 5K in each run, so my aim is to reduce my time eventually so that I am comfortable in running and can get through without breaks. If I need to interval it then so beit. I will not beat myself up as I'm still running 5K!

Fantastic attitude! The main thing is to do whatever it takes to keep enjoying the running - if that means sometimes setting yourself a challenge, or sometimes taking it easy, or sometimes doing intervals, or sometimes doing a shorter run, or sometimes entering a race, then that's fine - just do what works for you! And if you're running 5k three times a week, you're going 15k more than everyone who's still on the couch. That's 60k in a month...!
Sounds great, and you're definitely right to not be bothered by the timing/pace. Run, enjoy it, build the habit that will last you a lifetime, and have a wonderful time. With or without music as you happen to prefer it on each run. I enjoyed reading your positive attitude.
