Week 6 begins...

Evening lovely runners!

After the euphoria of successfully completing my first ever 20 minute run on Sunday, I was wary of crashing back down to Earth with a bump on week 6. I've been reading, and taking note of other's experiences and advice on how to get through this tricky week.

I have a print-out of this:

tombenninger.com/files/2011...

which shows a visual representation of each run of the C25k plan. I told myself that 18 minutes total of running is not that far off the 20 I did on my last run, and that from the moment I start running the first interval I've got to keep enough in reserve to still be running 24 minutes down the line - yes, you can slow down a couple of times but it's still a big effort, and therefore not to be taken lightly. The visual really helped me get my head round it as it "looks" like a big run when compared with most of the preceding ones.

Anyway, all that convincing myself not to take it lightly seemed to do the trick, and I had a successful run. It was just before sunset - nice and cool and I did enjoy it even though my legs were very tired by the end. Feel confident about W6R2 now :)

Happy running to all - especially those week 6-ers!

Pacing is the key isn't it. My last two runs have been around the same time as you - it is a very pleasant time to run isn't. I ran the 2nd run of Week 6 tonight - the last interval run - 25 mins on Thursday!!!

Well done atomic, I also did W6R1 last night which went well as I took it steady due to all the comments. This is a great forum for support and advice. Good luck for W6R2.
