Week 6 Run 1

After running 20 minutes in a row last Sunday and loving it, I thought that the first run in week 6 would have been ok...but I found it so hard! I really had to push myself more than before. I’m proud that I didn’t stop but I struggled so much! Anybody else felt the same at this stage in the programme? Any tips on how to motivate myself for my next run on Thursday?

Run 1 of week 6 catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you say you enjoyed, R1W6 goes back to interval walks and runs as you found out and found it hard as well, for the second run of week 6 stay well hydrated and run it slower than you did today with run 1, R2W6 is the last run with interval walks and runs you will be pleased to know, good luck.

Thanks, this is reassuring!

I’ll ensure I drink plenty of water before my second run...especially with this hot weather! Cheers!

Many folk have and will find it tricky...but just relax... take it steady and take it slow.... follow each run, gently and know that this is just another learning week of runs:) You can do this:)

I think that run is mentally very hard.

I felt like wk5 run 3 was a taste of freedom. It was like moving up to 6th form.

Then R1 Wk6 was like going back to kindergarten.

But hang in there, you can do it. And you will absolutely love the last run of the week

That’s exactly how I felt - like going backwards after all the progress made. But I will try my best for the next run and I look forward to run 3 of this week! Thanks for your message!

I agree with you! I went through the same just now. I’ve completed week 6 and I really struggled but kept going! So that’s really the only advice I can give you...keep going, you’ve gone so far already! Got nothing to lose by just keep on going! Xx

I felt exactly the same. I think with hindsight I would have needed 2 days rest maybe after the 20 minute run. In any case I also ran into problems and had to abort - I was doing the 8 minute run when the app stopped. I didn't realise and kept on going for about 12 minutes I would say and then I realised and did a cool down walk. I was really tired with legs of lead.

Doing it again tomorrow 🤞

The first run of each week is often harder than the next 2. Just take it very easy, you've got this far, ploughed on even when it felt tough. You've got this! Well done and keep on running 😊
