Week 6 run 3

I did it! Back to 25 minutes of running! I'm so chuffed l can't tell you! I've been slowly redoing c25k after a few months off with health problems, taking about ten days rather than a week for each section. Last time I went out I was supposed to do this run but just couldn't face it and jeffed all the way round. I'm a big fan of jeffing but I really needed to prove to myself that I could run without stopping again, as much mentally as physically. I decided I would definitely do the first half of the run and then see how I felt. I've quite often done this in my six years of running. I find that giving myself a target and permission to stop seems to make it easier to continue. Anyway it's done! Onwards and upwards!

Brilliant! So pleased for you. I feel your pleasure in being back running.

I’ve had my first two runs here in sunny Portugal after not running for three weeks after contracting the worse cough ever driving down through frozen England, France, Spain and northern Portugal.

I thought my fitness would have fallen off a cliff but I managed two 3km runs this week and hopefully will soon be back to doing two 8km and possibly one 10km.

It's interesting how you keep your fitness isn't it. I've found two weeks off is fine, three weeks just about ok, any longer and it falls off a cliff!

Great news! Really well done.

I’ve used your strategy of smaller targets and an ‘out’ to work really well!

Look forward to Week 7 reports…

I don't know why the strategy works so well for me because I don't really fool myself but it works every time!

Big well done - that's brilliant. You're at the same stage as me - I did that yesterday - my method is to keep distracting my moaning brain!!! with music, book, being in the moment, counting, repeating a mantra etc!! Feels good after, but not much enjoyment at the time!! hehe

Like the distraction approach! I like to really look at what's around me because I run in a very lovely place.

Best of luck! And if it doesn’t work first time, as happened to me, just keep turning up until it does!
