Someone pinch me....

In my last post I shared with you all that my son had come running with me and I had managed 26 minutes and defeated the head-gremlin.

This morning we ran again and I was aiming for 28 minutes so that I can count it as week 8 run 1.

Off we went; got through the usual initial body complaints; breathing settled, legs felt a bit heavy but that eased off. We turned at 14 minutes and headed back. The two inclines we had run down we then had to run up, so it was slower on the way back but eventually Seb said we had done more than before ie. more than 26.

Then he said the magic words. "Don't you just love running? Don't you just love it when you've run for 30 minutes!"

I swore at him. Then I hugged him. Then I got home and hugged my husband. Now I am grinning like a complete idiot and I don't care. :P

Two more to go :) :) :)

Thanks poppypug. I'm going to do a few maintenance weeks and also support the new c25k group that starts tomorrow in Lampeter, my nearest town. I've been doing my couch journey on my own out in the sticks!!! I am now holding on for Mamma_Mia and we will graduate together whenever she is ready :) x

Brill job AmisNan!!!! Dead impressed and doing (virtual) cartwheels round the kitchen - would be a train wreck if I tried to do any in reality :D

Good luck with your new group this evening!

Xxx

It's been a real treat Ullyrunner. I am just about to deliver him to Carmarthen station so he can get the train back to Bath, where he is a student xx

Ha! Well done! That's a lovely post - thanks for sharing...

I was reading a book the other day where they sped up the music for a few runners and didn't tell them... they all hit PBs as a result... so your son is onto something there - if you think you've done 28 when you've actually done 30 your body will keep going... :)

Thanks aussiegtc. I am still amazed at how much of this is psychological. I'm going to consolidate the 30 minute runs then aim for the 5k, which my slow pace doesn't hit yet!

That's a very interesting fact about speeding up the music too! :)
