FECK........FECK, FECK, FECK....

Well, after years of no real problems, they are back!! The knackerd knees are starting to be troublesome once more. Maybe it's my advanced years (50), or my weight (12-and-a bit stone), or, more likely, it's years of tripple-jump training whilst I was at school. But, whatever it was, they are hurting once again.

Back on the Cod Liver Oil to lubricate the blighters, and Ibuprofen to help with the inflamation, but off any real running.

Swollen just on the inside and above the knee-cap. A bit puffy, but caught in time [hopefully] to let them get better quickly. Mostly the left knee, but the right one has the potential too.

I shall go cycling -watch out Tour, here I come - and see how that goes.

Wish me luck!!

PS. Don't have too much sympathy; I should have replaced my running shoes about 500 miles ago. I can almost see dayligt through the soles!

Commiserations Sallycycle. Sore knees are the worst!! AncientDad's knee consultant recommended glucosamine and condroitin supplements for his knee problems. Better than fish oil (allegedly) May have to get some myself. In the meantime, get yourself some new shoes, you know you want to :)

Boo... I found Tubigrip amazing too for the C in RICE... Take care... A decent bit of rest and you'll be back out there in no time (carefully)... Hate it when the body rebels against our best intentions...

On the plus side - sounds like you'll get some new shoes... :)

I'm a kinesiology tape fan for my knees (and ankles and hip and wrist and just about everywhere I manage to knock something out of place lol)

Tip! Omega 3 fish oil capsules are better than just cod liver oil! Make the switch. You won't regret it. I have a very painful, arthritic big toe and if I don't get my daily capsule wowsers does it let me know.

I think from the sound of things your knee will be fine with rest. Get the new shoes for gawd's sake! I was looking on the Start Fitness web page t'other day and they have some right good prices on shoes. The sports top I got the other day at SD was a few quid cheaper from StartF

Take care with the cycling Sal.

Aw, thanks! I shall treat myself and get some new [road] shoes.I had a gait analysis done a while back, and will now put it into practice.

I shall be careful on my bike. I would love new one of those as well ~ a Pashley Princess....maybe one day...

Ooh yes, shoes can make a huge difference, and if you haven't had gait analysis yet make sure you do for that next pair. Agree with spoonie, kinesiology tape is great stuff, worth a try.
