I did it! For the first run I was fighting those pesky gremlins who were telling me that my legs were aching and I better stop. But I ignored them, and by the time I did the last 5 minute section I managed to increase my pace a little without getting too puffed out :)

A quick question for you guys- do you stretch after a run?

I do - i normally do some shoulder rolls and upper body stretches on my warm down walk, probably looking like a lunatic waving my arms about lol, and the leg/bottom half stretches when I've finished. I got shin splints after week 2, probably caused by the wrong shoes, but I'm taking no chances now. I never want to feel that pain again! Stretching doesn't take long, I think it's worth it. Did my W5R1 yesterday too, good innit? Good luck with the rest f the week, quite a challenging one!

Challenging is an understatement ;) But we will do it!

Where did you find out how to do the stretches?

Well done on the runs! Yes, always stretch. Here is a link to what is recommended:

And I do mine straight after the walk down and before driving home. Same link as Irishprincess.

When I get home, I do a few more in the shower.

Well done on battling the gremlins.

Happy running

Yes, I found a few other sites, but they seemed a bit complicated. This is easy to follow :)

Nope, but I do stretches on other days.

And my cool down walk is at least 10 minutes

Well done you! I found my run tough too but something in me is enjoying the pain...strange but true! Next run W5R2. Best of luck with yours. As for stretching I felt the need to stretch my hams and then curl into a ball to stretch out my back (yoga pose I think). Listen to your body, I felt better for it.

Good luck with your next run! Yes you are right, the feeling of completing a run makes up for the pain :D
