Hiya!

I have just returned from my W5R1 run in lovely running weather, a morning run. 8°C with a slight drizzle, love this weather to run in!

1. I did not get any ache in my lower lung-area anymore. Last time will have been just that, a solitary ache, which can happen.

2. my legs felt better, so I do think it has to do with a lack of movement during my workdays. I did notice that my legs start to feel slightly heavier when I run on dirttracks. I can be running on a dirt road, legs start to feel heavier and when I then come on stone / concrete my legs immediately feel better. So I think my legs prefer concrete over dirt.

3. by the end of the third 5 minute run I lost control over my breathing and I had occassional gasping despite running at the same (snail) pace the whole time. But then I think, that is part of the training process. You have to challenge your body to improve!

On to W5R2, 8-5-8 in 2 days. Not feeling too scared of that one. I do feel anxious about the 20 minute run of W5R3 though!

Cheers, Evy

Haha Hidden i just finished mine, haha I wonder if concrete is just more of an even surface for you..?

Well done!! Yea I’m finding learning to listen to your body for its feedback regarding breathing is really interesting process..

I think it might have to do something with the resistance of the ground? I know years ago when I joined a Start to Run group that most people prefered running on the athletic track over concrete. But not me, I found the track much more difficult. So I think a dirt track also is slightly more 'giving' than concrete? And my legs don't like that 'softer' feeling? Anyhow, I am weird 😜

Well done Evy 👏🏻👏🏻you’re learning what suits you best now, which is all part of the journey. Don’t be anxious about W5R3, it’s not as daunting as it seems, nice slow pace and in no time you’ll be hearing....your halfway through....and thinking to yourself, that wasn’t too bad 🤔......I can do this....and you will 💪🏻 Good Luck 👍🏃‍♀️
