What a beautiful morning for a run – got to the seafront just after 6am, the sun was slowly coming up and it was warm, so much so that I bit the bullet and for the first time…wore a short sleeved t-shirt!

This is the first week of the plan that doesn’t follow the format of completing the same run three times; instead each of this week’s runs is a little bit of a step up. Today was three, five minute runs, with three minutes of walking in between. Week four had been all about five minutes and so I felt fairly confident as I started.

The time seems to be going quicker as well, which clearly shows that I’m coping better, but also I think that the less different splits I have to concentrate on, the easier, I know, that might sound odd, but in week one, there were so many different instructions that now to be just left to it for a little longer makes it “easier”!

Music wise, I’m still using the same playlist I created, but today the song playing as I started was “Parklife” by Blur – I love a bit of musical irony and just as I was told to start my first run, the line “and it’s not about you joggers who go round and round and round…” was playing in my ear – just a little thing to make me smile. The last song that came on as I was already into the final five minutes was “Twisting by the Pool” by Dire Straits and that really lifted me and I found that I actually increased my pace a little at the end. Hubby even mentioned that he was having to up his pace to catch me up when he’d stayed back with the dogs.

I really did feel a sense of achievement this morning – probably all linked to the gorgeous weather and running location, but maybe also to do with those elusive endorphins?! Next run Saturday mornings – two eight minute runs – it’ll be interesting if nothing else!

Well done! I can relate to all that! I had a lovely coastal run today although not as early as yours so it was getting quite warm! My first run in short sleeves too! I think vest top might be required soon!! And shorts!! Definitely sets you up for the day!! 😀👍☀️🏃‍♀️
