-- not with one man in the 60-64 age group running the 5K in 19 minutes (that's NOT age corrected time - but real time!) and another in the 65-69 age group running 23 minutes!!
I'm not going back to THAT Parkrun again!! - Couch to 5K
I'm not going back to THAT Parkrun again!!
Lol, I don't blame you
Blimey!! Don't blame you for giving them a wide berth.
Whaaat ! Blimey stay clear .
Oh my, don't blame you
Hi Bazza, I recommend going back... but next week ask to have a sip of whatever they're drinking before the race starts. They obvs have something 'performance enhancing' in their water...
Crickey! Probably find they are ex-Olympians or something!
60-64 and 19 mins!! I assume that these people are given a different course ~ one that is quite steeply downhill all the way!
I did 14:04.5 (approx ~ not that I was timing accurately!!!) for 3.2k, and I thought that was good. Oh yes, that WAS downhill all the way and I'm 50!!!
Something to aim for!
I would be very very happy with 23 minutes, and questioning the accuracy of my run tracker with 19 minutes. They are seriously quick runners!
I don't blame you at all I have been avoiding my local park run because there is a 74 year old lady that runs 5k 6 mins faster than my PB and I thought that was bad
Unfortunately he runs at every parkrun so its a case of just being in awe of them and getting inspiration from them. I was running 21 minutes last year and was usually around 3rd in the 60-64 age group. On saturday i ran 22 minutes and finished 1st only because the runners who i never even see the back of were not running. I was overtaken by a lady who will be 68 next month who sprinted past me after 1k. I overtook her before the 2k mark but she still finished in 22.17. The previous time she ran the course she finished in 21.59. Looking at her stats she ran 21.29 on the eve of her 66th birthday...............wow.
People in the older bracket always inspire you.
These people will be at any parkrun you attend so just go and get on with it. I have a 74 year-old lady who has been running for about 8 years to chase but most of them will have been running for many years so whatever your time is, you're still a winner because you are no longer on that couch!
Wow, what a time. A 10k race was held in our village last month. We don't have 'flat' around us only 'up' or 'down' so was a very hilly course and the last stretch was on the beach where they had to hurdle the groynes and the winner did it in 33:04!
Oh dear! Just shows, age is just a number! Gives you a target.
But some of their speed may rub off?????
Sounds like the park run near my parents!
