Running hot!

I was in two minds whether to run this morning after kissing the pavement the other day and being picked up by tiny filipino girls who work in the nail bar! I was so embarrassed that I had not realised that my ankle was looking balloon-like so I have had to rest it over the weekend. I decided to go for it, and the ankle behaved itself and didn't give me a tweak, but oh my, was it hot! How on earth do people run marathons in very hot temperatures? I managed the run well, but I hate running and sweating it's so uncomfortable, even wearing my new Aldi sports top! I finished feeling quite exhausted but it was the heat that was the problem. I think in future when it is hot, I will try to get up earlier in the morning whilst it is still fresh. Looking forward to W6R2!

Oh dear, so sorry to hear you took a tumble! I hope your ankle will behave itself

I hate being too hot too. You just feel mithered and exhausted. I'm going to try a run tonight on my painful ankle

I couldn't agree more, running in this heat is the pits.

I dislike it so much I found it preferable to leave my lovely bed at 7 am on a Sunday to avoid it! Well done you for being less of a wimp than me and giving it a go :) Hopefully it will make your next run seem very comfortable by comparison!

Even quite early in the mornings is now becoming uncomfortable. I'm starting to dread the Run for Life next month as it moves off at 10.30. Well done on your run this morning - week 6 is tough anyway without all the heat. Good luck with your next run and best wishes.

Oh no, poor you! I hope your ankle is better, go easy on it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like kissing pavements (see my post). The increase in temperature does make it harder so going earlier in the morning or evening is better, avoiding the midday sun. Also maybe take a drink with you towards the end of program as you progress to longer runs. I read someone kept a wet flannel in the fridge/freezer to cool off when they returned home. Happy running. X
