Parkrun no 8, cowgirl style!!

Parkrun no 8, cowgirl style!!

Well, after an enforced rest period due to blisters from Walk the Wight last Sunday, i'm back to running today on my 8th Parkrun!

It was a lovely sunny day and we arrived for fancy dress Parkrun "Western theme" for Medina IOW's 3rd birthday(delayed from last week due to rubbish weather!)As always its very friendly and well organised. A lot of people took up the fancy dress challenge in good spirits, and after the annual awards (my friend Tracys's husband came 3rd overall and retained his cup!) we all set off. My shirt didn't last long as it was SO HOT! so took it off whilst running and tied it round my waist, but the hat stayed on all the way round at least! it was hard work but i didn't get my usual leg aches and felt quite good really, huffing and puffing a bit though! Managed a little sprint finish then collapsed in a heap!!! NEED WATER!! :) As it was kind of a party celebration there was a table FULL of goodies, cakes sweets and fruit, lovely!! indulged with abandon and it was all great cakey stuff! :) My OH was feeling very pleased with himself as he had beaten his car club colleague by 5 mins!! He did it in 23.40!! Also found him a chocolate brownie with no nuts which made him extra happy!! :)

The photo show me and Tracy(I 'm on the right) before we set off! Got the results through and mine was 31.38(only 7 seconds off my PB) and i was 2nd out of 12 in my age group(VW40-44!!) , and Tracy got a PB of 34.15! Well done to her, she's the one who got me started on C25k!! :) This was my longest time of non-running since January (9days) so i was pleased that today was better than i thought!

Had a colleague leaving work today too so MORE cake, so definitely heading out again asap to run it all off!

Have a good weekend everyone, happy running! :)
