Apologies for starting the new quest a few hours early. I have to be up really early tomorrow and have a whole day of things to do. Luckily for 5x50 it involves lots of walking as well. I won't be back till late tomorrow but when I get back I will add the names below.
So here we are at the beginning of a new Quest. This one is being called the Father and Sun Quest as the week before the end it is Father's Day and the day after the end it is Summer Solstice.
As usual it's a six week Quest.
Every week I will post a new week so we can all chat about our running week.
Please put a post underneath if you would like to be part of the Quest
If you would like to see what the quest is all about here is a link.
I def in Will need new quest to keep motivated as today was the run I have been aiming to do since started c25k last sept . Might need to get back to you once gather thoughts Happy run everyone
Yes please I really enjoyed the last quest, thank you again for running these. For me, my goal will be to build up my distances to 10k. I'm not going to fix a number of runs, but I'd like to run 3-4 times a week, with at least one of these being a speed/interval training and the other a 'long' run. Oh yes, and to remember to take my rest days and stretch out properly.
Me too, please Rfc.This time I want to maintain my three runs a week...somehow I never seem to make it to four...and one of these will hopefully be my ' long ' run ,around the 10-12K mark.
I also want to speed up a bit on my 5K run...I timed myself this morning and I did 5K in 45 minutes( that's as exact as I can be as I don't have anything more high tech than my trusty Omron ) I am such a plodder I think I could probably get faster if I really tried,so I'd like to make a real effort to get a bit faster
Thanks Rfc, Good Luck everyone and Happy Running x
Definitely not slow: it takes me 40-45 minutes to run 5k, depending on the route i'm sure you will get faster. I will be trying to do pyramid interval and Fartlek training to help me increase my speed.
Cheers for the encouragement I feel I should be a bit faster by now ( graduated last September !) .I think I've maybe just got a bit complacent with my comfy plod and need to shake things up a bit !
Yes, please, Rfc. I need to get back to running regularly. I have lost fitness and therefore don't want to go out for a run - hey ho, downward spiral commences
Thank you for organising and keeping us going. It's much appreciated. Happy running to all
Count me in too, RFC. I've just completed my first 10k race with another one in 8 weeks, so this will be great for my training. The aim is 5k at least 3 times a week, and a longer run 8k+ once a week, with the ultimate goal to complete 10k in an hour or less (or at least beat my previous 1h,5m!). Ta!!
Count me in too please. My goal is to finish the programme (doing w8 at the moment ) and to get up to 5k, although not in 30 min (that's a way off yet at the rate I run)
Can I join please? I did W7R2 this evening so should only be a couple of weeks before I graduate.
My goals are to successfully complete my Race for Life run on June 22nd plus run a whole 5K (so far I have actually covered the distance but this has always included the walking at either end)
Me too please. 3 runs a week. At least 5.5K on one of those with the view to increase beyond that but most of all I aim to relax & enjoy then runs as much as possible & persevere with trying to learn the chi running method. The latter is the biggest challenge for me but I'm not ready to give up.
I would like to join please. I need something new for when 5x50 ends. Having been doing the 5x50 challenge I have been running more often (daily) but that has also meant my speeds and distances have been much lower than before. I therefore want to work up to doing a half marathon distance again and maybe try some speed work - while incorporating rest days again.
and maybe maybe maybe run our local 5k fundraiser for cancer research... I think I need to do 5k a couple more times to get my confidence up. Registration closes the night before the run, so there's no hurry to commit.
Put me down too please, my aim is to be running 10k again in preparation for my 10k in July. I also want to get out there at least 3 times a week. Thanks.
It's about time that I put myself out there - on this forum I mean! I often read people's post, occasionally comment but I feel a bit shy / new girl syndrome. So I'd like to join this quest too please. I pledge that I will run a minimum of 3 times a week, a minimum of 5k each time building up to a long run in preparation for a race that I've still to enter! I'm planning on entering a 10k in July & a half marathon in September. Also I will continue with Parkruns - I've moved so will attend a new one this Saturday so please wish me luck. And I will do my upmost best to get a sub 30 min 5k - I don't mean this Sat though it would be lovely but as it's a new course, I'll need "break" myself in!
Thank you. I know everyone on here is lovely & I know I'm being silly - the new girl syndrome. That's how I'm feeling about going to a new Parkrun this Sat as I've recently moved. But I going to make myself do it as I've made the pledge on this quest
Good luck with running 10k regularly - that's one of my aims too but I'm not quite there yet. I can do it with walk breaks but would love to run it entirely. Way to go. X
I've done distance once kitty but am really slow But I just think back to week 1 when I struggled to run 30 secs and know anything is possible with practise
Having signed up - my hip hurts ! Tried a gentle jog yesterday and pulled up very quickly as it was obviously making my hip worse not better. So not sure what to do now. May try replacing running with swimming next week if its still hurting, but have decided that tomorrow's planned long jog is definately out
